Virvel Av Morkerhatet – Forsaken Hate Sickness
The Ukraine hasn’t historically produced a mass of decent Black Metal. When they do however, they tend to be gleaming black underground bands more than worthy of note. Virvel Av Morkerhatet are such a band who discharge music containing great variety and candor while maintaining their integrity.
After a haunting two minute into they get to work with ‘Winter Call’, displaying tight mechanical skills and production of great quality. Keeping things on the ground pace-wise they utilise numerous riffs, breaks and melodies to show you what they’re capable of, even using a couple of different styles of vocals. This is excellent song writing which is interesting and precise.
‘Crypt Of Eternity’ is slower and has picked riffing to begin, but rips into a savage barrage later on while rasping screaming accompanies it. ‘Dark Angel Will Arise’ showcases a more progressive side to Virvel’s nature as they unleash a first-rate modern sounding riff and ‘When God Is Dead’ is really well structured with more excellent work. ‘Black North’, ‘Furiousness Of The Ascending Moon’ and ‘Gloomy Fear’ fill the album out with more of the same.
Virvel Av Morkerhatet have come from nowhere and unleashed an extremely competent and enjoyable debut upon us. There also seems to be great potential here as their range of writing techniques displays a keen willingness to explore without getting too far wide of the mark.

Black Metal is dead. In the UK at least. Seeing as though it is the place that gave birth to the genre it is as fuckin’ useless a broke-dick dog. There is no scene to speak of, just the odd one or two equally useless bands trying in vain to mimic some of the more [...]
Opening with a song title of the length Bal Sagoth would be proud of (thankfully that’s as the only comparison to draw), the imaginatively titled ‘A Glimpse of the Image of Lucifer Gleaming Beyond the Subterraneous Black Sun’ marches forth. Mid paced, it stamps away with the precision of a well oiled Black Metal machine [...]

I prefer Ukraine’s pagan/folk/nsbm scene, however this sounds great, even awesome .. I do have to say, choosing a ‘norsk” name is silly for a band coming from a slavic country
