Proclamation – Messiah Of Darkness And Impurity

As soon as this blasted off, I knew I had to review it. Dark, demonic and as hefty as a skip full of mammoth shit it shovelled me back into the heavier side of Black Metal and provided a welcome change from all the raw stuff I’ve been feasting on recently.
After the subtle but creepy intro the first thing that hammered my senses, and my favourite part of the CD, was the vocals because they are totally intense, demonic and layered with slavering backing growls. They don’t make the album on their own though as the guitars have some quality moments. “Wrath Of The Apocalypse” & “Angel Of Four Winds” provide some Slayer-like solos and feedback while the percussion is constantly ferocious.
There is a good mix of riffing and arrangements even if it is more orientated towards blasting. It isn’t all hectic insanity though as “Remains Of The Sacrifice” offers up a well stompy section…for about twenty seconds before you’re dragged back into the massed ranks of the undead and the title track is a soily war march for the skeletal wehrmacht. There are also some quality song titles like “Unholy Wine Of Fornication” (probably about some grim cheap Spanish booze) and “Sepulchral Carnage”.
A few of the later songs end with some more creepy effects that make you feel like you’re in an Evil Dead film. They fit perfectly with the atmosphere of the CD which reminds me of that feeling you get when you consume too much Colman’s English Mustard on your roast beef and you get that uncomfortable five second cleansation of your nasal cavity as brutal as a Stalinist purge? This album is the musical equivalent.
It is massively enjoyable and great for assaulting the general populace with whether it comes blasting from the open windows of your home or vehicle. I hate using comparisons with bands but I feel unable to avoid it here, “Messiah Of Darkness And Impurity” is like Archgaot and Morbosidad trapped in a sack with a crack team of undead commandos, having a knife fight! This comes highly recommended.

Black Metal is dead. In the UK at least. Seeing as though it is the place that gave birth to the genre it is as fuckin’ useless a broke-dick dog. There is no scene to speak of, just the odd one or two equally useless bands trying in vain to mimic some of the more [...]
Opening with a song title of the length Bal Sagoth would be proud of (thankfully that’s as the only comparison to draw), the imaginatively titled ‘A Glimpse of the Image of Lucifer Gleaming Beyond the Subterraneous Black Sun’ marches forth. Mid paced, it stamps away with the precision of a well oiled Black Metal machine [...]
Raging band from the Spaniards..I’ve listen to their previous “advent of the black omen” album.Hell they are brutal and its great to listen to now and then..though I prefer raw:)They still stick to their playing style for this album. For collectors ,vinyl and cds are limited.get it fast.
Proclmation shreds this total black metal scene endless burns hell’s annhilate genocidal vengeance!!!
haven’t listened too much to black metal lately but this got me.. fuckin’ brutal shit, very dark and underground, excellent album..
Definitely cult! One of the few bands of today’s “scene” being able to give a precise definition of bestial impurity and foulness. Moreover, it is more than virtuousic how Proclamation avoid to repeat themselves, the more so as that sub-style of Black Metal really doesn’t offer much space for extensive variation. Simply astonishing!
