Nadiwrath Interview

Greece’s Nadiwrath have been making some hefty waves in the scene for a while now. With their free to download demo well and truly burned into the hard drives of true fans worldwide and the upcoming release of their debut full length assault not far away, guitarist Nadir dropped by the Hellfurnace on his way to work to update us on all things Nadiwrath.
What has the response you got from giving the demo away for free? Do you have any idea how many downloads took place?
The response was great. All of the 300 copies were sold out. Most of them were sent to various labels but apart from that we had an awesome feedback from die-hards worldwide. We have really no idea how many downloads took place. But there’s no comparison between the sentimental value of an original copy and a lifeless download.
Was the free giveaway what brought you to the attention of Moribund Records? Or did you send a copy to them or did they approach you?
One of the labels we sent the demo was also Moribund records. The label immediately expressed its interest to our band and for us was a great honour. You must also take note of the good relations that existed before between the label and our singer Wrath who cooperates with Moribund since 2006 with his personal band Dodsferd.
You had a few issues with band members in the beginning. Why did they leave? Were you too hardcore for them and fuck their heads up or did they have their own personal demons to wrestle?
All past members had their own stuff. We don’t know shit about personal demons.Being in a band means a lot of things. For us is devotion, maximum excitement in order to create good music, will to follow the band anytime anyplace at all costs, making the band part of our own life. All of them things that past members didn’t have.
Is the current line-up a strong and hateful unit bound together by the grimness of Nadiwrath?
All present members are loyal to the origins of Nadiwrath. We named above some characteristics that are very important for us. Those for the time being exist to each one of us and soon they’ll be imprinted to our first morbidity.
What drives your creative process? Do you have any habbits or rituals you like to invoke before during or after creating?
No habbits no rituals. Just the harsh reality that surrounds us. Rotten minds, decayed beliefs create rotten, decayed, aggressive music.
Do you put your personal beliefs into your music or do you prefer to keep them to yourself?
We are four different personalities and it’s a little bit difficult to agree on everything. There is a personal belief but this has to do with Nadiwrath as a whole. Abhorence, irony and no respect for each human parasite that is full of hypocritic behaviour and shitty beliefs.
Although this does not apply, in my opinion, to Nadiwrath, how do you view experimentation in Black Metal at this time?. Are you pro or anti? Do you believe that BM should stick rigidly to the basic rules or do you think it is ok to explore and bring in new styles and ideas to the genre?
Nadiwrath plays traditional old school black metal. Nothing more and nothing less. If other bands try “something” else in their own sound and try to explore new styles or whatever that’s ok for us. But we’re just not going to bother in listening this kind of stuff
Can you give us any idea about the new album? Lyrical content, album cover, collector’s editions, release date?
Drums, bass and guitars are done. We recently started the recordings for the vocals and everything up to now sounds awesome. All lyrics are written by Wrath and deal with the debasement of humanity, the survival of human parasites including also plenty of irony for the pathetic theories of the masses and their religion. For the rest (album cover, collector’s editions, release date) we have no information. Anyone interested on these can check Moribund’s official site.
Have you got any plans for touring after the release of the album?
Of course we’re interested in playing in other countries outside Greece. Once the album is released we’ll try even though it’s difficult to play wherever we’re asked to.
Tell us something about the band that not many people know or you have never told anyone before. Any members used to be in glamrock bands or work artificially insemminating pigs or something similarly unusual?
We don’t think that people are interested in knowing more things about us apart from our music. None of us has ever been in a shitty gay cartoon-influenced glamrock band. We’re not interested in insemminating faggots and other worthless pieces of shit.
Whats your favourite album of all time?
There is no favourite album but favourite ones. It’s so many of them that it’s really difficult to choose. But the founders and the praiseworthy followers to the original spirit of this particular sound have created and still create masterpieces.
How do you view the state of the world today regarding mass commercialism and people who crave the trappings of success and wealth through materialism?
FUCK THEM ALL!!! No value to white-collar workers and pathetic curs.
Describe yourself in one word.
We’re here to talk about Nadiwrath not myself.
Harpies, Gorgons and Mermaids. All female creatures from Mythology who bare flesh. If you were the Minotaur lord which one would you most like to have gaped for your pleasure and why? What would most attract you to that particular creature?
Sorry but I have no idea about these “ladies”. But if I had to choose I’d take the one with the biggest tits.
Do you have a favourite disaster from history either man-made or natural and what do you find so interesting about it?
Eveyday we spend it’s one more day of disaster. It doesn’t matter if it’s a big or a small one. The point is that day by day we sink even more to the gutter.
What is the most disgusting thing you can think of?
The survival of this planet.

I only recently discovered Rahu, who purvey original and very replayable Finish Black Metal of the highest calibre. This is a demo from 2008 that has since been released as part of a best of featuring this and their other demo on one CD.
Although there are only three tracks delivering a mere seventeen minutes of [...]
As suggested by the title of their debut demo Nachzehrer tout themselves as Black Thrash. I wouldn’t normally review such a release, not because I dislike the style but because it falls outside the purpose of this site. Anyway, this American five-piece skimp so much on the Thrash part that, aside from a few riffs, [...]
